A relatively strong earthquake shook Qadamgah in Khorasan Razavi province. The intensity of the earthquake was also felt completely in Mashhad.

According to the social and incidents news service of "Isal News", a relatively strong earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale shook the province of Khorasan Razavi and the city of Mashhad, which is 50 kilometers away (106 kilometers by road).

Although the epicenter of the earthquake was the city of Qadamgah, the intensity of the earthquake was also felt completely in Mashhad.

This earthquake occurred at 02:09 am on Friday, April 28th, 2023.

At the time of writing this paragraph (02:30 am), the pilgrims of Ali ibn Musa al-Reza are visiting the illuminated tomb in complete calmness. Order and tranquility reign at the shrine of Imam Reza, and people are busy with visiting and worshiping.

In some streets of Mashhad, including Imam Reza Street, at the time of writing this paragraph (02:40 am), some of the pilgrims and residents have come to the streets and sidewalks to prevent possible damage from aftershocks, although a significant number of people are not visible, and calmness still prevails in the streets of Mashhad.

Mohsen Davari, the governor of Mashhad, stated that expert teams are monitoring all reports about the earthquake and invited the people of Mashhad and other cities that felt the intensity of the earthquake to remain calm.

As of writing this paragraph (02:54 am), no significant damage has been reported in Mashhad and surrounding villages, although some of the ceilings and walls of the houses have cracks, and some facades of buildings have also been damaged in Mashhad.

At the moment of writing this paragraph (03:25 am), some of the people in Mashhad and Nishabur have left their homes and are resting in camping tents or their private cars in safe places to stay safe from possible aftershocks. Reports of long queues at some gas stations have also been broadcast. Some people have also preferred to take refuge in the shrine of Imam Reza and rest in the courtyards of the holy shrine until morning, which is a safe place.

All emergency services, crisis management headquarters, Red Crescent, emergency, and fire departments, along with medical centers, are fully prepared. People are advised to maintain calmness and observe safety tips.
