The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) announced its first humanitarian aid shipment for Iranian flood survivors has been delivered.

“UNICEF's first batch of supplies for #flood_affected_children, including 200 vaccine carriers and 100 cold boxes, arrived in #Iran on Thursday night,” UNICEF office in Iran wrote in its Twitter account. 

UNICEF added “The equipment will help restore essential immunization services for affected children and prevent the spread of diseases.”

“Eighty vaccine refrigerators have also been dispatched. 

UNICEF has emphasized that the needs of flood-affected children in Iran are getting more acute by the day and more supplies are urgently needed, UNICEF said in a separate message.

Flash floods caused by unprecedented heavy rain across Iran claimed the lives of at least 80 people and displaced thousands more. Due to the disaster, numerous buildings and infrastructures, including roads and bridges, in rural and urban areas were destroyed or damaged.
