Geopolitical Siege Project against Iran will Fail

By Mostafa Amini*
Just as the project of economic war and extensive sanctions against Iran has failed to achieve many of its key objectives, the project of geopolitical siege against Iran will also fail with the initiative, action, and creativity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Geopolitical Siege Project against Iran will Fail
isalnews - While the Islamic Republic of Iran showed goodwill towards the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and temporarily stopped or suspended some of its peaceful nuclear program-related activities under the framework of proving its good intentions, and accepted the most unprecedented monitoring protocols on its peaceful nuclear program to prevent the West from taking a shortcut, other parties to the JCPOA not only did not fulfill their commitments but also with the emergence of Donald Trump in the United States, they launched an unprecedented economic war of the century, hidden and overt, with the aim of bringing the Iranian people to their knees through an extensive and paralyzing sanctions regime!

Now, after years of striving and struggling to destroy an independent nation, while the most inexperienced executor of the century's economic war, Donald Trump, has joined the dustbin of history and the extensive sanctions regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran has not achieved its key goals, and the economic war has failed despite all the damage inflicted on the Iranian people, it seems that Iran's enemies have launched a new project against this independent nation, which the author refers to as the "Geopolitical Siege of Iran."

The project, which its signs appeared with delays in releasing Iranian financial resources in Iraq and with the strong doubts about the Qarabagh war, has now been revealed with the intensification of tensions in Afghanistan. It has entered a new phase with the dispute over the Zangazur corridor and some showy movements of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It is surprising that despite technological advances and achievements in the field of technology, so-called superpowers in international relations and their followers and affiliates still believe that a nation can be brought to its knees through economic warfare and geopolitical siege.

Although the patient Iranian people never forget how these wars and economic sanctions have damaged their economy and development plans, and they claim to uphold their rights, they have repeatedly proven that they not only detest coercion but also do not yield to it. With the power within themselves, they display remarkable resilience in the face of adversity and unpleasant situations.

Of course, there is no doubt that unfortunately the West Asia region has been caught up in a new wave of regional competition, and due to the shift in the balance of power, some adventurous governments have preferred their own government interests to their national and regional interests. While the creative multilateralism campaigns by the Islamic Republic of Iran were strengthening and consolidating the foundations of regional cooperation, such opportunistic competitions have suddenly and unreasonably involved the region in a new wave of regional competitions. For example, the movements of Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan have not only threatened and challenged the territorial integrity of Armenia, but also intensified tensions in the region with the vision of strengthening the siege of Iran and eliminating Iran's independent access to international markets.

In the meantime, the Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on its internal power and political rationality, has so far thwarted the project of besieging Iran geopolitically. Strengthening relations with Iraq, beginning political negotiations with Saudi Arabia, engaging in dialogue and interaction with the parties involved in Afghanistan with the aim of establishing an inclusive government in that country, and dealing with the unintended movements of our friendly and brotherly country, Turkey, while preserving, producing, and displaying deterrent power and insistence on regional multilateralism and regional cooperation are among the measures and political rationality of the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting this new challenge.

Just as the project of economic war and the extensive sanction system against Iran failed to achieve many of its key objectives, the project of besieging Iran geopolitically will also be defeated by the initiative and creativity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Iran's display of power will balance the power equation in the region in an evolutionary move, and thus regional cooperation and multilateralism will be beneficial for many of our adventurous friends and take the place of destructive regional competition.
